Pastor Richard Smith

Senior Pastor Richard Smith accepted Christ as his savior at the age of 9. He was called to ministry soon after that at age 12. He grew up in Oklahoma City and headed to Jacksonville College in Jacksonville, Texas. There he met his wife, Kim Brogdon. He graduated from Jacksonville College and moved to East Texas Baptist University in Marshall, Tx. to finish his Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1980. He continued his education completing his Master’s Degree from the BMA Seminary in Jacksonville, Tx. in 1995. He has served as Youth and Music pastor at Calvary Baptist Church in Gilmer, Cayuga Drive Baptist Church in Athens & South Park Baptist Church in Fort Worth. In 1990 he became pastor of Craft Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Tx. He served three years when the Lord led him here to Farley Street Baptist Church in March of 1993. Under his leadership we have grown spiritually while he has preached verse by verse through the Bible. This year’s theme is “Building on the Rock”. We are studying the “sermon on the mount” found in Matthew chapters 5, 6 & 7. We have grown through his leadership as we are relocating and in a building project. As we have been in a temporary location, the Lord has blessed Farley Street with over 150 new members over a 14 month period. In our community, Richard has served as chairman of the National Day of Prayer, chairman of the Women’s Resource Center and as a member of the WISD health education board. State and nationally, He has been President of the BMA of Texas, President of the BMA of America, member of the national advisory committee and has served on numerous trustee boards. Like all dads his crowning achievements and joy comes from he and Kim’s three children, Josh, Ryan and Kara. Early in his ministry at Farley Street, he initiated the motto, “Where you have a friend.” For the past 14 years visitors have rejoiced at the genuine friendly atmosphere from both the pastor and congregation. When asked what he would love to see for each and every person he meets inside and away from the church, he always responds, “to see everyone have a supreme friendship with the Lord, Jesus Christ.” Contact: pastor@farleystreet.com

Larry Wood was called to Farley Street Baptist Church as Minister of Music in November, 2000.  This is his second time to serve at Farley Street, the first being part-time in 1993-94.  Larry is a graduate of Jacksonville College where he majored in music and has been in music ministry for 26 years.  He loves leading worship and it is his desire that during worship peoples hearts and minds would be fixed on God and they would forget about the cares of the world.

Larry was born and raised in Dallas, Texas and grew up attending Shiloh Road Baptist Church.  He has served in several churches in Texas and Louisiana during his ministry but can definitely say Farley Street is the best.  The people here are the most gracious, loving, and kind in the world and it is a joy to serve them.

Larry has a wonderful wife, Tammy, who ministers along side him in the music ministry as the church’s pianist as well as teaching ladies Bible Study.  Larry and Tammy have been married 26 years and have three children, Jennifer, Lauren, and Joel. Contact: larry@farleystreet.com

Jason Prewitt moved to Midlothian in 1980 from Little Rock Arkansas. Jason accepted the Lord as his Savior at the age of nine while attending First Baptist Church of Midlothian. He was very active with the church during his childhood and youth. He enjoyed the activities, youth trips and working with the choir. Jason graduated from Midlothian High School in 1993, then attended Navarro Junior College where he received his Associates in Arts with an emphasis in Music. During his time at Navarro Junior College he was the youth Director at Calvary Midlothian. After graduating from Navarro two major changes transpired in his life. He felt the Lord calling him again into a life of ministry work. He enrolled in Criswell College in Dallas and accepted the Music and Youth Position at First Baptist Church of Rice Texas. He has had the privilege to work in children’s ministry, student ministry and or the music ministry in great churches like Calvary Baptist Church of Midlothian, First Baptist Church of Rice, Heritage Baptist Church of Waxahachie, Fountain Park Baptist Church of Allen, First Baptist Church of Ferris and of course Farley Street Baptist of Waxahachie. In 2001 Jason received his Bachelors of Arts in Biblical Studies and started the Masters program in Christian Education. God sent a special young lady into his life, Jessica Shafer, of Desoto, whom he married October 18, 2003.  They are the proud and blessed parents of two sons, Jacob and Jonas.  Jason counts it an honor and privilege to work at Farley Street Baptist Church with their student Ministry. He considers it exciting to be apart of what God is doing in the lives of students in the Ellis County area and in the student Ministry of Farley Street Baptist Church. Judy Kramer
Children's Minister

Julia Kramer (Also called “Ms. Judy) is the Dirctor of our Children’s Ministries.  Ms. Judy came to Farley Street in 2004 and has loved teaching and reaching the children of our church and this community.  She was raised by a Baptist Minister, Grady L. Higgs Sr., in Colorado.  She started teaching children in Sunday School while in  High School and has been working in Children’s Ministry ever since. She is married to James Kramer and has three grown children and 5 grandchildren. Her focus is to equip children and families to live their life the way God intended. Ms. Judy loves Farley Street because they love children and put this ministry as a priority.

Everything we do in our Children’s Ministry is designed to involve your child in building friendship with others, learn to grow in the Lord so when the time is right, they will invite Him to be their Lord and Savior  and grow in their understanding of God’s Word in an age-appropriate way.  We strive to make their time in God’s House so much fun that they will beg to come back every Sunday and Wednesday.

The Sunday School curriculum we use is designed to have fun and be actively engaged in the lesson and in this way our children will be learning and growing.  This will also equip them for the challenges they will face at school, home and at play. Contact: judy@farleystreet.com
